Please tell us a little about yourself.

Hello, I am a 32-year-old trauma therapist/social worker turned stay at home mom.  My husband and I made the decision for me to forgo my work in the social work field and stay home due to unexpectedly becoming parents to two girls just a year apart (Irish twins).  My oldest was conceived via fertility treatments, and we were unsure if we would ever be able to conceive naturally.  When my oldest was just four short months old, my husband and I received the excited yet scary news that we would be having another child.  Two days after my incredibly intelligent oldest daughter turned one, my youngest entered the world with her sassy, bright personality!  They aren’t quite Irish Twins, as they were born 12 months and four short days apart, but I always take credit for being a mom of two kids 12 months apart because it’s one heck of a job!  Being a stay at home mom, I’ve been forced to step outside of my comfort zone and find creative ways to keep myself entertained.  It’s easy to get lost in motherhood.

My Stay at Home Mom LifeSix months ago, I found yoga and my life changed forever.  I’m a huge yoga enthusiast and practice daily.  Yoga helped me reconnect with myself and encouraged me to be not only a good mom, but a good person, too.

Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?

Being at home can be challenging as we live far from any familial or friend supports.  We moved to a new area of Ohio and have limited supportive connections.  Being at home with two small children can become lonely.  Conversations with toddlers are much different than conversations with adults.  I needed an outlet, a place to call my own.  I needed a place to process out my thoughts and feelings.  Being an anxious person, I have a hard time slowing down my thoughts.  I turned to yoga as a physical outlet, but also utilized blogging as a way to force my brain to slow down.  By far my favorite part of blogging is the private emails, texts, phone calls, and messages I receive from people thanking me for being so honest.  It’s amazing how complete you can feel when you finally realize you’re not alone.

What is your favorite type of flooring and why?

Pretty much my entire house is covered with carpet, and I absolutely hate it.  Our 1990s style bathrooms are even covered with carpet.  I wish I could say it was an easy to clean carpet, but unfortunately the color is off white!!!  We look forward to changing our house to laminate or hardwood flooring in the near future.

Do you follow any other blogs for inspiration?  If so, which ones?

I currently follow The Journey Junkie, Scary Mommy, and Jigsaw Parenting blogs on a regular basis.  I am open to following more blogs, but there are only so many hours in the day!

Can you explain a recent project or post you’ve been working on?

I’m not currently working on any special projects or posts, but I am in the process of considering continuing my love for yoga and becoming a registered yoga teacher (RYT).  Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) is quite expensive and time consuming, but I do hope to one day spread my knowledge of yoga to those I inspire through social media.
